Common cause why Toro lawnmower won't start

Spark Plug

If your toro lawn mower won't start, check the spark plug for signs of damage. If the porcelain insulator is damaged, the electrode is burnt or destroyed or the carbon build-up is high, replace the plug. Use a spark plug tester to decide whether the spark plug is defective.

Carburetor

The most common cause of the clogged carburetor is to leave fuel in the lawn mower for a long time. Over time, the fuel can evaporate, leaving behind a thicker, stickier material. This sticky fuel will clog up the carburetor and keep the engine from starting.

Fuel Pump and Filter

The fuel pump has three ports: the gas in port, the gas out port, and the pulse port. A short rubber tube attaches the pulse port to the engine crankcase. The air inside the crankcase alternately pressurizes and depresses the air in the drain. The pressurized air pushes the diaphragm inside the pipe and pumps the fuel. The engine can't get gas if the fuel filter is plugged or the carburetor inlet needle is stuck then your toro lawn mower won't start.

Battery Problems

Any Toro lawn mowers are fitted with electric starters that operate on the strength of the battery. This electric starter models require you to charge the battery at least twice a year. If the battery is fully charged, but the toro lawn mower won't start, check the fuse.

Problems Requiring Repair

If the starter rope is not completely removed, you won't be able to provide the engine with enough torque to turn it over. Blockages in the fuel lines and the carburetor will persist even after you change the fuel. You will need to cut the carburetor, disassemble it and clean it manually.

How do you starting a Toro lawnmower? All the latest Toro mowers today are auto choke, which means what you need to do is pull and hold the handlebar lever and yank on the pull cord, that's it.

Will the lawn mower does not start until tilting? Remove the air filter and try to start the mower, if the air filter is saturated with gas, repair it. The lawn mower should still be angled to the side of the carburetor, stopping fuel and oil from pouring through the air filter.
